with octagonal blued sighted rifled barrel inscribed 'Acier Fondu' in gold-encrusted gothic letters, engraved breech decorated with scrollwork and with the number '2' in gold, struck beneath with proof mark and the number '1636/21', engraved breech tang numbered and decorated en suite and with the initials 'LF', above a cockerel within a small shield, scroll-engraved flush-fitting lock, blackened half-stock carved with scrolling leafy foliage over the fore-end and the butt, scroll-engraved iron mounts comprising spurred trigger-guard and butt-cap (the iron parts with areas of pitting, the stock cracked in two places), and no provision for a ramrod
