Ⓐ AN INDIAN SHORTSWORD (SOSUN PATAH), LATE 17TH/18TH CENTURY
with slightly curved single-edged blade of finely watered steel, formed with a reinforced back-edge of T-section (one small crack at the forte), one face with a brief inscription in a gold koftgari panel, iron hilt of characteristic form, comprising a pair of quillons with bulbous terminals, knuckle-guard with stylised serpent head finial, large disc pommel and integral grip, decorated throughout with gold border ornament (small losses)
