Glazed white porcelain. Depiction of Guanyin in the seated posture of "Royal Ease" on a rock, holding a ruyi sceptre in her left hand. The underglaze stamp "Ho chao-chun" on the back. Excellent condition, the leaf of one petal damaged on the right-hand side of the pedestal. Height 23 cm.
A member of the well-known porcelain artisan family Ho in Te Hua, Ho chao-chun is documented from circa 1680 to 1710. See Donelly, P.J., "Blanc de Chine", p. 356.
