A CARRARA MARBLE BUST OF THE VIRGIN MARY EARLY 18TH CENTURY Set on stepped socle base 50cm high overall Stylistic comparisons have been made in the past between this work and that of the North Italian 18th-century sculptors Giuseppe (1675-1735) and Paolo Groppelli (1677-1751) who produced a series of religious architectural sculpture in the Veneto - many of which were subsequently placed into churches in Dalmatia.
