A CASED ONYX SILVER-MOUNTED TRAY BY BOLIN WITH A PRESENTATION PLAQUE

Of circular form, the body is made of polished onyx, with a finely cast and patinated silver border in the Russian Revival style, decorated with scrolling foliate ornament. A small glass dome encloses what appears to be a mineral or botanical specimen. Mounted with a silver plaque inscribed in Russian cursive: "Отъ искренно признательной и расположенной" (Sincerely grateful and devoted…). Signed: Veselitskaya (Веселицкая)

Housed in its original silk and velvet-lined wooden case, the lid stamped in black with the Imperial Warrant and name of the court jeweler: В.А. Болинъ / Москва (V.A. Bolin, Moscow)

Hallmarks: Moscow assay mark with the kokoshnik head (post-1908 style, facing right), silver standard mark "84" (zolotniks), Maker’s mark (appears to be "BA" in Cyrillic for В.А. Болинъ).
