A CIZHOU 'FLORAL' BOWL
China, Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368) to Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Rising from a short straight foot to an everted rim. Carved through the creamy-white slip with a central lotus bloom borne on a leafy stem, within a band of stylized leaves, reserved against a combed ground and covered with a cream glaze over a white slip, stopping unevenly above the foot and revealing the buff body.

Condition: With old wear and firing flaws, some chipping to rims as well as few glaze flakes, the interior with iron red staining. Overall good condition consistent with age.
Provenance: From a German private collection assembled between 1975 and 2002. Acquired at Nagel Auktionen in Asian Art on 6-7 May 2016, lot 765.
