A Castelli maiolica bowl and cover, circa 1760
Painted probably in the Gentili workshop, the bowl with a continuous scene depicting figures in front of buildings and classical columns, with trees and other distant buildings and a view of the sun setting over the ocean, the cover with a similar view of figures in front of overgrown classical ruins, the finial painted with a stylised floral motif, the rims edged in ochre and manganese, 11.9cm across; 10cm high (rim chips, one restored rim chip) (2)
