A Charles II oak chest
The twin-plank lid above a four-panel front carved with rosette-centred, gouged lozenges, the uprights, top rail and lower rail with a deeply gouged repeating pattern, the twin-panel ends also with the repeating pattern, a large sign attached to the underside of the lid with the wording, 'David Owen, Formerly Gamekeeper at Willey Park, bequeathed this chest in February 1891 to Lady Forester of Meaford', 153cm wide, 57cm deep, 67cm high.

Provenance:
Lady Forester, daughter of Edward Jervis Jervis, 2nd Viscount St Vincent, Meaford Hall, Staffordshire and removed in 1943 when the Hall was sold; thence by descent.

Willey Park, Shropshire was a Forester family seat.
