A Chinese export Canton enamel mirror, 18th century
the enamel surface raised in places and decorated with flowers, fronds and scrolls punctuated with an applied mask, gilt-metal butterflies and paterae, losses and later mirror plate
29cm. high, 25cm. wide; 11½in., 9¾in.
Condition Report:
Decorative. One pressed-gilt-metal fixing lost and fragmenting to this site. There is some crazing and losses to the enamel, with cracking and exposed copper at these sites. This damage is almost certainly as a result of the piece being dropped. It is a rare survivor.
