A Chinese export metalwares easel back photograph
by Wing Nam & Co, Hong Kong, circa 1900, of rectangular portrait form, the border fashioned as split bamboo stems with bamboo leaf sprig accent, with a simple 'A' frame support (Dimensions: h:Â 19cm w:Â 13cm)
(h:Â 19cm w:Â 13cm)
Footnote: Other notes: Bamboo, or the Chinese "zhu" is a homophone for "to congratulate" and also a symbolic of longevity. This frame therefore may have been originally a present to congratulate someone on reaching a significant age. The thick bamboo stem, because of its hollow centre, is also indicative of a pure heart.
