A Chinese painted saddle with stirrups, 19th century
The wooden saddle carved in one piece, painted with lavish floral and geometric patterns in black, yellow and red. The painted, wooden stirrups attached en suite to two brass-studded leather straps. A crupper fastened on the back, set with numerous, cylindrical bone fragments. Length of the saddle 41 cm. Originating in the "Cold Mountains" region, the territory of the Muoho, known as "Blackbones".
