A DIPLOMAT'S SMALLSWORD

Straight, double-edged blade, with fuller for two thirds, engraved until the half with floral motifs, with Savoy emblems, sailing ship and anchor. Brass hilt. Shell-guard with crowned Savoy shield in relief, surmounting fasces; laurel branches and lion's heads. Mother-of-pearl grip scales. Pommel shaped as lion's head. Leather scabbard with brass mounts.
