Andrew Jordan came to Canada as a refugee from Romania when he was a teenager. He wrote his Master’s thesis on the international diamond business and then entered the jewellery trade; he later attended art school. Mr Jordan now mostly paints and creates unique pieces of jewellery.
Designed by Andrew Jordan. Mr. Jordan’s work featured at this auction combines gold and diamonds with less traditional materials such as forged steel and uncut natural diamonds. He consulted and collaborated with world class crafts people and artists to solve the problems that arose during the building of the jewellery and the box. For example, in order to secure the rough diamonds without covering too much of them he had them “drilled” with laser beams. Then the boxes, with their moving parts, needed to fit precisely and slide smoothly. To get the work just right took experimentation, persistence and trial and error.
PRINCIPAL DIAMOND(S): 4.20 carat(s), Round, G colour, VVS1-VS1 clarity, comments: weight estimated
