A FATIMID CARVED WOODEN PLAQUE WITH TWO HARES, EGYPT, 11TH-12TH CENTURY

the wood carved in deep relief with two entwined roundels containing mirrored hares, on a thick rectangular block with two metal pins through interior, the reverse with vertical carved band and concave roundel, remnants of old collector's labels

16.6 by 26 by 6.5cm.

Condition Report:
The wood fragmentary, with visible signs of ware and horizontal cracks in wood, small chip to upper left-hand corner, scratches to reverse, underside with drilled marks from a previous use, as viewed.
