Description: A FINE GEORGE III MAHOGANY SQUARE PIANO BY WILLIAM SOUTHWELL
LATE 18TH TO EARLY 19TH CENTURY
The rectangular case decorated with chequered stringing and opening to reveal a five octave ivory and ebony keyboard, the satinwood and string inlaid fascia behind the keyboard decorated with an inlaid cartouche to the centre bearing 'Royal Patent/Southwell/Dublin and Liverpool', and to its left a fretted panel. The whole raised on four square tapered legs united with a stretcher
85.5cm high, 168.5cm wide, 59.5cm deep

Condition:

Condition: Internal workings require thorough restoration, repairs to the ivory keys, surface scratches and dents overall, chips to the veneer and inlay along with some overpainting to the checkered bands or inlay, sign of old bora, the base is possibly not original.
