A FRENCH CLOISONNÉ ENAMELED GILT BRONZE AND BEVELED GLASS CARRIAGE CLOCK, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, of rectangular lantern form and surmounted by a bracket-and-reed rod handle over a beveled glass inset top and an hour repeater button within a tapering molded cornice above a dentilated frieze, over a beveled glass cover flanked by corinthian capital pilasters and protecting a conforming white enameled face centering ring form black Roman hour chapters beneath black five minute dot and minute lines, enclosing pierced trefoil gun metal cut steel hands and a sweeping seconds' pointer, over a smaller circular line surrounding a ring form black Arabic numerals and dot dial centering a black gunmetal steel pointer over a black painted leftwards pointing arrow, verso a hinged beveled glass door opening to the cut steel and brass repeating and alarm clock mechanism, with hammer striking bell and platform escapement, on an exterior dentilated and molded base raised on a rectangular plinth with matching cloisonné panels, covered throughout in undulating polychrome flowering vine on a dark pinkish-red ground enamel, includes "004" and "9" brass winding keys. Condition Report: Normal gilding wear, some small nicks, chips, and cracks on enameled areas, old repairs, surface buildup, verso clock mechanism is tarnished and has surface buildup but according to owner has been working.
