3 color sunburst finish contoured body with offset waists, 24-inch scale, rosewood fretboard, floating tremelo, two white single coil pickups, circuit selector switch and two roller knobs on bass side, treble side with three selector switches and two knobs, bridge with individual saddles, mute not present (as usual).

The Fender "Jaguar," the heir to the Jazzmaster, was introduced in 1962 as the feature-laden top-of-the-line model. It found favor in the surf music community likely because the shorter scale allowed for the heavier gauge strings that many surf guitarists employed. Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys was one of the early adopters. Later, the guitar was used by a number of punk and alternative guitarists such as Tom Verlaine of Television, Kurt Cobain, Elvis Costello, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Johnny Marr of the Smiths, as well as with many retro surf bands.
