A French gilt metal and Sevres style porcelain inset mantel clock, Japy Freres, second half 19th century, the eight-day bell striking movement with backplate stamped with maker's roundel and Medaille D'Honneur, also serial numbered, with porcelain Roman numeral dial, the case surmounted by an urn to the square body and with swags and festoons above the plinth base and feet, set on an associated giltwood plinth, 42cm highCondition Report: Dreweatts have not tested the movement and cannot make any guarantees or comments as to accuracy or if the movement is working we suggest getting the clock appraised by a professional clock restorer prior to use. There is no winding key or pendulum present with the lot.The case with marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions, consistent with age and use, dirt and some discolouration and uneven finish to the surface overall. The urn finial is loose and there is no retaining screw to secure to the body of the caseSevres-style plaques with light wear and rubbing, there are some chips to the winding hole near the '7/8' position otherwise appear in good order The gilt plinth with marks, knocks, scratches, some old flaking, chipping, and loss to the surface.
