A GEORGE III MAHOGANY GAINSBOROUGH ARMCHAIR, CIRCA 1760
A GEORGE III MAHOGANY GAINSBOROUGH ARMCHAIR CIRCA 1760 With blind fretwork decoration throughout and an arched top rail, upholstered in yellow leaf-print covers, on square chamfered legs, probably later carved, originally with castors 102cm high, 74cm wide, 65cm deep Condition Report: Good, structurally secure with wear and tear consistent with age and use. The upholstery is tidy and undamaged but would benefit from a light clean. As noted the carving is probably of later date and originally with castors. The front seat rail possibly replaced and some shaped corner brackets replaced (three original brackets remain). Repairs to both front legs and one back leg tipped. Now with sprung upholstery, the webbing largely detatched (at the front rail) and requires re-securing.Condition Report Disclaimer
