of cut-cornered rectangular form, the cagework mounts chased and decorated in translucent and opalescent enamels with swags and berries within narrow white borders, the lid, sides and base inset with later ivory miniatures painted with sea battles and marine encounters, that on the lid signed: 'van den Berghe' and that on the back with initials: 'VB', illegible French prestige marks in lid and base, right rim with Hanau 19ct bird head

generally excellent condition bar a few very minor enamel losses and crizzling to some opalescent beads.
