A GREEK TERRACOTTA BLACK-ON RED FIGURED KRATER
6th-5th century BCE. 36 cm high. Depicting a Greek warrior with a large shield walking beside his horse, followed by a naked youth. The other side shows a war scene between two Greek and two Persian warriors. On the top between them a Greek inscription reads: OΓAIS KALΘS(ES), probably meaning: “Beautiful strikes”. In perfect condition. Ex Jacob Marcus collection, Old Jaffa.
