[ translate ]

A George II mahogany bureau bookcase, circa 1740, the cavetto moulded cornice above a pair of panelled doors opening to a shelved interior, the lower section with a fall opening to an arrangement of pigeon holes and small drawers around a central cupboard door, above two short and two long cupboard doors, on bracket feet, 191cm high, 93cm wide, 57cm deep

Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old chips and splits. Some losses. Some old repairs. Handles and escutcheons, and hinges all appear original throughout. All drawer linings and rear panels are original. Various old ink staining to the interior. The key for the small cupboard door to the interior is present and operates the lock. The other key present operates all of the drawer locks. The same key fits the locks of the fall and the top cupboard doors but does not operate them, therefore these locks may need attention or require an alternate key not present. The locks to the drawers of the bureau section may require minor attention to ease them up. Some old evidence of gluing to bring together the boards of the drawer linings and very few places where old fillets of timber have been introduced to fill gaps caused by shrinkage. The surface is original throughout with good colour. Minor attention by an experienced restorer/ polisher would further bring the colour to life/ improve the appearance. The feet are original. There are later supporting blocks beneath/ to the reverse. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.
