A George II mahogany card table
A George II mahogany card table, circa 1750 the rectangular top with castelated corners opening to a baize playing surface and counter wells, with blind frieze drawer and on cabriole legs, 73cm high, 86cm wide, 42cm deep
Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasion commensurate with age and use. Old chips, splits and small losses. A few additional dark marks to top. Later baize playing surface. Evidence of old worm to the underside and back of table. The drawer is a later adaptation that utilises the original timber from the frieze. Because of this the board to the underside of the table is later and there are multiple later blocks and screws to the interior of the carcass. There are also later blocks behind the 'ears' at the tops of the front legs. Later screws to hinges. One hinge with a vacant drilled hole.
