A George II silver tankard,
by Richard Guerney and Co,., London 1749,
tapering circular form, with a girdle, scroll handle, the domed hinged cover with a scroll thumb-piece, repair to cover, later inscribed 'Kelso Hunter Stakes 1821, won by Juba, the property of M. Culley of Fowberry', on a spread circular foot, height 17cm, approx. weight 19oz.
Provenance: Matthew Culley, (1776-1849), son of the Agriculturalist George Culley. The Culley family owned Fowberry Tower and Coupland Castle in Northumberland.
Then by family descent to the current owner.
