[ translate ]

A George II walnut and parcel gilt composition wall mirror, mid 18th century, 94cm high, 54cm wideCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and useOld splits and cracks, some chips and losses, this is especially around the gilt composition slip, some of these losses appears older than other areas, also with rubbing and wear. There is a small fragment of the walnut veneer lifted and separated from the lot, this has been masking taped to the plate, this is the only element that is detached but still presentTo the upper edges the 'wings' appear to have suffered some losses, these were presumably designed to copy the scrolls at the bottom edges but have broken off since. The plate has some age but is probably not original, the rear boards look old and have some webbing repairs to the joinsSome warping to the cresting element of the frame, also splits and cracks and signs of repairs in these areas, some later supporting blocks to the rear There are two eyelets where this has been wired/strung previously, there is also an old metal bracket to the top rail of the back, this may have been for hanging or to previously support a further cresting elementPlease refer to additional images for visual reference to conditionCondition Report Disclaimer
