A George III Irish Silver Basket by Dennis Fray, Dublin, 1783

oval and on conforming skirt foot, the foot and sides pierced with slats, the beaded rim above a band of pierced and engraved foliage, with overhead swing handle, engraved with a coat-of-arms and underneath with an inscription 38cm wide, 30oz 8dwt, 946gr The coat-of-arms is that of Faulkner. The engraved inscription reads 'The Gift of the Rev'd Mr George Evans to Samuel Faulkner Esq'r'.

Fully marked underneath. The handle further marked with maker's mark only. The marks are in general clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The have been some repairs/patches to the handle, some of these have been crudely done. There are some dings/bruises. overall. We are happy to provide Condition Reports to prospective buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale. We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a Condition Report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.
