A George III mahogany side chair

A George III mahogany side chair, the arched back and serpentine seat covered in blue damask, on carved cabriole legs, 93cm high, 58cm wide; together with a George III side chair, 18th century, the serpentine top-rail above a pierced vase-shaped splat, the blue damask upholstered seat above square front legs

Condition Report:
Both chairs with marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old chips and splits. Dreweatts cannot guarantee the originality of elements beneath upholstery. Chair one: Glued repairs to the 'ears' of the front legs. A screw has also been used to help secure one of these repairs. Dowel repair made to the top/rear of one front leg (see images). Chair two: Glued repairs where edges of top rail meet uprights. The uprights with plugged holes to the rear and sections of replacement timber suggesting this was once an armchair. Some minor evidence of old worm to underside of rear seat rail. Glued split to top of one rear leg (see images). One of the 'ears' of the front leg is a later replacement. Later blocks and screws to the tops/backs of the front legs (see images). Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.
