A George III silver dish cross by Hester Bateman, of adjustable form with four arms and central fitted burner, each sliding section with pierced scalloped dish rest, on scroll supports to a similarly pierced circular foot. Hallmarked Hester Bateman, London 1779. Maximum length 11.75" (30cm), gross weight 13.44 ozt (418.2 grams).
Condition Report:
- Displaying general expected surface wear, marks, scratches, nicks and tarnishing throughout, commensurate with the age and use.
- The movable and sliding sections all appear to be in good functioning order.
- Some minor dints around the rim of the burner.
- Some contact marks caused by the sliding action of the supports.
- Some rubbing and flattening to beaded edges.
- Some likey small repairs to the parts of the sliding sections and one of them feels quite stiff to move compared to the others.
- Each arm with an applied 'flower' shape terminal, some slight damage to the circular centre and one of them can be easily rotated whilst the others are fixed.
- Full hallmarks located to base of burner with maker's mark and lion passant to arms and a further lion passant to each scroll support.
- Some hallmarks partly worn or rubbed but all still legible.
