A George III silver soup tureen, London, 1788, Robert Sharp, the oval body flanked by foliate ring handles and raised on a gadrooned oval foot, with associated liner (London, 1792, possibly John Edwards III), the domed cover with stylised branch handle and gadrooned band. The body of the tureen engraved with armorial, monogram and the Clan Crawford motto reading 'tutum te robore reddam (I will give you safety through strength), the cover with crest, the liner with matching crest, armorial and motto, 34cm high (inc. cover), total weight approx. 141.5oz Note: The coat of arms is that of the Craufurd/Crawford family, very similar to the Renfrewshire-based branch at Auchinames.
