A George III silver tankard, the plain baluster body with applied lower girdle above a spread footed base, the domed and hinged lid with an open-work 'chair back' thumb-piece, to a double scroll handle with a heart shape terminal. Hallmarked William Collings, London 1775. Maximum height to thumb-piece 7.5" (19cm), weight 23.57 ozt (733 grams).
Condition Report:
- Appears in fairly good condition overall.
- Displaying general expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
- Minor surface dints/bumps.
- Likely small solder repairs to some areas.
- Some small patches of a darker tone visible to the top of the domed lid.
- Slight impressions from the girdle and hallmarks can be seen to the interior.
- Hinged lid appears in good working order and closes flush.
- Hallmarks located to the base, in a scattered group. Also fully hallmarked to the interior of domed lid.
- Some rubbing to hallmarks, mainly around the edges, but overall still fairly crisp and clear.
