A George IV Scottish sterling silver teapot, Edinburgh 1825 by William Marshall Of compressed circular form upon a spreading circular foot with a fluted edge. The shell capped embossed curved spout opposite a C scroll handle chased with ivy leaves, fitted with insulators pinned to sockets with a feathered junction. The hinged domed lid surmounted by a quatre form waisted husk shell finial above a fluted terrace, the rim edge of embossed ivy leaves. The body with a vacant cartouche either side of embossed C scroll and foliage with rocaille flanked by further of the same reserved with lattice work. Fully marked underneath, the lid with standard mark and duty mark only. Length – 26.1 cm / 10.25 inches Weight – 615 grams / 19.77 ozt
