A Greek Marble Relief with a Rider and an Altar Group
Hellenistic Period, Circa 2nd-1st Century B.C.
Height 15 x width 14 1/2 inches. Continental Decorative Arts
Intact as preserved. The figure's head, his leg, and two of the horse's legs lost. Minor chips and gashes throughout. Encrustation and brownish, slightly dirty patina. No obvious restoration. The top and bottom drilled for prior stands which are no longer present.
