A Group of Eight Inlaid and Lacquered Wood Boxes, 19th century 5-5/8 x 14 x 10 inches (14.3 x 35.6 x 25.4 cm) (largest, Chinese box) The lot comprising: 1 pair of wooden boxes with oval crowns and radiused corners, hand-decorated with gilt details, locking with key included; 1 mahogany tea caddy with pinwheel inlay, two oval hinged bins and a Limoges porcelain blending cup; 1 mahogany tea caddy with pinwheel inlay, two covered bins and metallic foil lined; 1 mahogany tea caddy with two covered bins and paper lined; 1 oval wooden tea caddy inlaid in floral garland motif with metallic foil lining; 1 inlaid mahogany lap desk with fold-out tooled leather writing surface, stationery partitions, two stamp/nib drawers, ink well, letter opener and key; 1 Chinese lacquered wooden sewing box with hinged cover, gilt decorated in village motif, all show wear indicative of use and age. Condition Report: Rubbing and loss of gilding to pair of crowned boxes, one of the pair has dislodged lock mechanism, small tea caddy bin covers are ill-fitting, oval tea caddy hinge is loose, lap desk is missing writing implements, Chinese box has loss of lacquer to edges.
