With tapering blade (some rust patination) notched along the back and double-edged at the point, ebonised baluster grip carved with basketweave set with silver studs on the outside, the pommel carved in the round as a thistle-head and set with a piece of faceted glass against yellow foil in a silver mount embossed and chased with foliage, basal mount en suite and with a cast and chased mount above on one side, in original black leather scabbard with silvered mounts each cast and chased in relief with thistles on the outside, the by-knife and fork en suite with the dirk
