Sumi ink on paper of a group of sage like Chinese men perusing a scroll with karako (attendants), probably one of a pair depicting the 'Seven scholars of the bamboo grove' subject. A background of classical waterfalls, bamboo forest and spring blossom.
Each panel 173cm high, 60.5cm wide, 1.8cm deep

Condition: old fading & wear to painted surface, scratch marks, restored pencil marks . Beautifully remounted in the 20th century.
