A LARGE ITALIAN RENAISSANCE STYLE MAJOLICA HISTORIATO CHARGER, SIGNED, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, of circular form and a brick red painted rim on a broad border of paired harpies issuing from scrolling acanthus leaves suspending thick grape clusters and entwined with an open mouthed serpent, partitioned by painted golden pearls banding continuing to oval reserves enclosing monochrome military trophies, centering a golden pearl trimmed deep green band of black line stylized wilting foliage framing a finely painted view of Renaissance style soldiers carrying various weapons and folded banners while striding through a rolling hills landscape, signed lower right, "Niodel." Condition Report: Good condition with light surface wear including some tiny rim chips and glaze crazing in areas throughout, reversing to a white glazed back with old stapled hairline crack repair.
