A LATE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH 'JAPONISME' PORCELAIN AND GILT BRONZE THREE PIECE CLOCK GARNITURE, ATTRIBUTED TO L’ESCALIER DE CRISTAL, PARIS, POSSIBLY A DESIGN BY HENRI PANNIER
The clock surmounted by a stylised peacock with wings spread resting on prunus blossom, above the rectangular case surmounted by pierced spandrels flanking the porcelain panels imitating cloisonné work, decorated to three sides with songbirds, prunus and fans, the front panel with dial with white chapters, faintly signed, above a square form base with corresponding pierced spandrels and plaque, raised on stylised elephant-form feet, with an eight-day movement, the case stamped 37443, 43.5cm high; together with a pair of five light candelabra, en suite, with central sconces above four candle arms cast as entwined dragons, on vase form bases with corresponding porcelain panels and square plinths, stamped ‘37444’.
