The frieze fitted with a writing slide and single drawer, stamped twice to the underside, L.

Provenance: Property from the Collection of Mary and Lou Silver, Indian Wells, California.

Footnote: L. Cueunieres was an ebeniste, specializing in 18th century style cabinet making, active in Paris from circa 1870. He had his own stand at the Paris Exposition Internationale Universelle of 1900 where he was awarded the Silver medal. He produced work regularly for the prestigious firm of l Escalier de Cristal in Paris.

The form of writing table offered here is closely related to the documented oeuvre of Jean-Francois Oeben. A closely related table a ecrire attributed to Oeben was sold from the Collection of the Late Andre Meyer, Christie s New York, 26 October 2001, lot 65.
Condition Report: In overall good condition. Minor dings, dents and surface scratches.
