§A MARBLE-INSET MOTHER-OF-PEARL-INLAID BARREL-FORM STOOL, GUDUN
China, Qing Dynasty, 19th century
The variegated red marble top is set in a circular frame above shaped aprons and four outward-curved legs framing conjoined scrollwork, and raised on short bracket feet. The top and sides are finely inlaid in mother-of-pearl with scrolling gourds, plums and pomegranates vines.
