Iran, 10th - 12th century and later
Comprising a variety of early Islamic pottery vessels (15), a circular engraved hard-stone low leg, possibly from a piece of furniture, and one blue glass bottle, the largest ceramic bowl decorated in the style of 10th-century Nishapur splashed and incised ceramic wares, 28cm diam.; two examples of opaque white glazed Samanid wares with pseudo-calligraphy in black, the largest dish 34cm diam.; and several other examples in either complete or fragmentary form.
Provenance: Stephen Keynes (1927 – 2017), acquired at Spink & Son and other London dealers in the 1960's.
