A Meissen porcelain chinoiserie group, c.1750-55, blue crossed swords mark, impressed | mark, modelled by P. Reinicke, with a couple seated before a pierced rococo arbour applied with meandering flowering branches, at discussion and holding a closed book, on a mound base applied with flowers, 19cm high Provenance: Works of Art from the Schroder Collection. Note: The model is based on an engraving by Gabriel Huquier, after a work by François Boucher. For other examples of this group see Dr. Erika Pauls-Eisenbeiss, “German Porcelain of the 18th Century”, London, 1972, pp. 116-117. A similar example was sold by Christie’s, London, on 18th May 1999, lot 214.
