A NAPOLEON III STYLE BOULLE WORK INLAID ORMOLU MOUNTED EBONIZED DROP LEAF WRITING TABLE, FRENCH, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, in the Louis XVI revival taste, the top inlaid with a profusion of foliate scrollwork centering an allegory to music, within a Neoclassical style relief ormolu-mounted trim and cavetto corners, flanked by two "D" shaped leaves, above a single pen drawer centering a beribboned flower basket and trumpet with fringe tassel ormolu mount, each corner with a figure of the infant cupid and Venus, issuing gilt metal mounted ring turned, fluted legs on to ormolu medallion mounted blocks raised on French toes, joined by a ring turned ormolu-mounted stretcher. Condition Report: Lifting and losses of inlaid brass boulle work, apparent repairs, later ebonizing and lacquer repairs, dulling of gilt on mounts, surface scratches, some heat rings, patina on metal, but overall in fair condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
