Nepal, 18th – 19th century. Within a ring of fire that seems to extend from her radiating eighteen arms, showing various mudras and holding weapons and other attributes, the goddess Durga slays the buffalo demon Mahishasura, one of her feet resting on a Buddhist lion. Unsealed.
Condition: Extensive wear and minor losses, traces of gilt, patina and soil encrustation.
