A Near Eastern bronze mace head or decorative finial

A Near Eastern bronze mace head or decorative finial, c. 1200 - 800 BC, comprised of a slender cast hollow tube with central melon-shaped swelling possessing 15 vertical ribs. Horizontal ridges border the base and above and below the ribbed area, the top of the piece with three projections where perhaps another object was attached or merely for ornamental purposes. H: 5 in (12.7 cm). A handsome example with mottled green patina. Ex Florida private collection.
