A PAIR OF CARTIER STERLING SILVER WEIGHTED CANDLESTICKS, FIRST HALF 20TH CENTURY, in the Georgian taste, the square bobêches with cavetto corners, over a banded candle cup, raised on a restrained web-like tapering lobed support, ending on square bases with repeating cavetto corners, one base marked, "Cartier 925-000, Sterling, 2553, Cement Filled, Approx. Wt. 4 1/2 oz.," the other marked, "Sterling, 2553, Cement Filled, Approx. Wt. 4 1/2 oz." Note: Two hand etched numbers appear: 44-2215 and 44-2218. Provenance: Property from a 20th Century Design Collector, Houston, Texas. Height: 7 3/4" Width: 4 3/8" Depth: 4 3/8"
Condition Report: Some expected surface wear, wax residues on bobeche and candle cup interiors, some surface scratches, mild patina, small dents, but overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
