Burma. Two kneeling Buddhist monks carved from heavy wood and coated with lacquer, both with lively facial expressions showing honest adoration. Using the thayo technique, their sashes and the hems of their robes have been decorated with inlaid glass. (2)
Condition: Some wear, age cracks, and minor chipping, with a fine patina.
Provenance: Austrian private collection.
