A PAIR OF DOUCAI OVOID 'DRAGON' JARS AND COVERS, 19TH CENTURY
Each vase is decorated with two striding five-clawed dragons amidst clouds, chasing a flaming pearl. The shoulders are embellished with a band of the Eight Buddhist Emblems, Bajixiang, above a ruyi border. The circular covers are decorated to the top with a further writhing dragon and flaming pearl. Each base has an apocryphal Qianlong seal mark in underglaze blue.
