A PAIR OF MEISSEN MUSICIAN FIGURAL CANDLESTICKS, MARKED, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, each painted in colors with gilt highlights and modeled as a pretty shepherdess, playing a flute with a recumbent lamb at her feet while standing on stylized groundwork beneath the leafy branches of a tree surmounted by pierced leaves encircling an acanthus wrapped nozzle, raised on a shaped base of swirling rocaille ending as curling tipped feet, verso factory pierced aperture with underglaze blue crossed swords mark and hand incised "F 156.x," overglaze red "6.," height: 13 3/4"; together with the matching peasant youth shepherd playing bagpipes with a recumbent herd dog at his feet while standing on stylized groundwork beneath leafy tree and nozzle, raised on matching swirling rocaille base, verso factory aperture with underglaze blue crossed swords mark, hand incised "F 155," overglaze red "6.," height: 13 7/8".
Condition Report: Each in good condition with restored, repaired and chipped leaves, his tree repaired behind back as well as right arm and right hem of blue waistcoat, her tree and connecting back side of scarf covered head have been restored.
