A RARE CHINESE BRONZE RITUAL WINE VESSEL
Ca.12th-11th Century BC; LATE SHANG DYNASTY or later. The S-profile body is cast in relief on a plain ground on either side with stylised masks; flanked by pairs of descending kui dragons on each side, separated by a narrow band of two pairs of confronted birds. The tall pedestal foot is cast; The bronze has an olive-green and pale green patina. Condition: Good. Size:190mmx160mm;2700g. Provenance: From the private collection of mr. Unger; previously with a London gallery; acquired in the 1990s on the UK art market.
