A RARE, IMPORTANT AND PROVENANCED PLANTAGENET GOTHIC OAK BOARDED STOOL, ROUS LENCH COURT, CIRCA 1460-1480. With bold octagonal shaped and moulded top above delicately thin silhouette side rails, pegged into buttress shaped end boards that terminate in Gothic arches, the top tenoned through and retained by original contrast angled wedges, 56cm high and 32cm wide. Note - Gothic and Tudor period boarded Stools are very prized, they are seen in period illuminated manuscripts of the 15th and 16th centuries, very few genuine ones exist. Provenance - The Tom Burn Collection, Rous Lench Court, Worcestershire. Purchased from Bruton Knowles Auction, Southam Tythe Barn, Gloucestershire, further items from the collection Rous Lench Court, 5 June, 1990.
